Before approving a personalised pet blanket proof, check likeness first and decoration second. The pet’s eyes, markings, coat colour, ear shape and expression matter more than whether a button or background flourish is one millimetre to the left.

1. Does the face look immediately recognisable?

Look at the proof, then look back at the reference photo. The overall face shape and familiar expression should read quickly, not only after prolonged negotiation with yourself.

2. Check the eyes

Eye shape, spacing and direction make a large difference to likeness. If one eye is partly hidden in the reference, use another photo as support rather than guessing.

3. Check coat markings

6. Check multiple pets individually
