One pet usually gives you the most space for facial detail on a custom pet pillow, while multiple pets can create a stronger family-style keepsake when the chosen design supports them. The important part is not squeezing every animal you have ever met onto one cushion. It is giving each pet enough visual space to remain recognisable.
Before planning a multi-pet design, check the current product options. Not every Paw & Glory pillow design necessarily supports every pet count, so the live custom pet pillow collection is the final source for availability.
A single-pet layout is useful when the face, markings or expression are the main reason for the artwork. With only one subject, the crop can usually give that pet more visual weight.
It can be particularly effective when:
A multi-pet pillow can suit a household with two or more animals, a couple’s pets or a family gift. The challenge is composition. Each additional subject occupies some of the available artwork area.
If the product supports multiple pets, use photographs where each animal is clearly visible. They do not necessarily need to be in the same source photo if the design process accepts separate references, but never assume that feature is available on every product. Check the current listing first.
They do not have to be identical photographs, but similar viewing angles and image quality can make planning easier. If one pet is photographed straight on and another appears as a tiny side profile in dim light, the second image supplies far less usable information.
Use the pet portrait photo guide to check focus, lighting and visible detail before upload.
If one animal is physically much larger than another, decide whether you want realistic relative scale or a more equal portrait composition. The answer may depend on the specific artwork style.
What matters most is that both faces remain readable. A Great Dane does not have to occupy 93% of the cushion simply because nature was feeling ambitious that day.
Multi-pet compositions need more room around the subjects than a single close-up. Very tight source images can make it harder to position several pets comfortably.
If you are still choosing between headshot and full-body references, see our custom pet pillow crop guide.
When the artwork proof arrives, review each pet individually and then the composition as a whole. Check:
If something meaningful needs changing, make the revision note specific before approval.
Separate cushions give each pet maximum artwork space and can work well as a pair or set. One shared cushion tells a more collective story and uses less physical space.
The better choice depends on the room, budget, available product options and whether you want the pets seen together or individually.
A multi-pet pillow works when the composition still gives each animal enough room to be itself. Quantity is not automatically sentiment. Sometimes two clear faces beat five pets arranged like a particularly confusing school photograph.
