Before approving a personalised pet mug, check the pet’s likeness first, then the crop, markings, text and overall balance. A proof is the moment to catch meaningful problems before the artwork moves into production.
Paw & Glory’s current custom pet mug process includes an artwork preview before production and artwork edits before approval.
Step back from individual details and ask whether the portrait immediately reads as your pet. Expression and face shape matter as much as tiny technical details.
Check eye shape, spacing and any visible colour difference supported by the source photo. Eyes often carry a large part of the expression.
Ear position can change the personality of a portrait surprisingly quickly. Compare angle, fold and relative size.
Check patches, blazes, muzzle colour, eyebrow markings and other details that make the pet recognisable. Do not rely on memory alone if you have a clear reference image.
A mug has limited visual area, so confirm that the face is large enough and that important ears, fur or accessories have not been clipped awkwardly.
If your selected design includes a name or wording, read it letter by letter. Familiar names are precisely the sort of thing the human brain helpfully autocorrects without permission.
Do not judge only while zoomed in. Ask how the artwork will read as an everyday object viewed on a desk or kitchen surface.
“Please make the left ear slightly lower to match the reference” is useful. “Something feels off” gives the artist much less to work with.
If the issue begins with the source photo, compare your image against our pet portrait photo guide. If your only reference is a message attachment or screen capture, see whether a screenshot or WhatsApp photo can work.
The verified current Minimalist custom pet mug is a classic white 11oz mug created from your own pet photo. The live product states that it is designed for everyday tea and coffee and regular dishwasher use. Current options are available in the custom drinkware collection.
The proof stage exists for a reason. Use it before the portrait becomes a very permanent reminder that nobody checked the dog’s name.
