After you order a Paw & Glory custom pet portrait, your photograph moves through four main stages: artwork creation, proof review, artwork approval, then production and delivery. The proof stage is the important checkpoint because you see the personalised artwork before the physical product is produced.
For current UK orders, Paw & Glory's Shipping & Delivery guidance says the artwork proof is usually sent within 3–5 working days. After approval, typical UK delivery is currently quoted at 5–8 working days. Revisions, replacement photos, customer approval time, peak periods and courier delays can extend the total.
For a full timing breakdown, see our custom pet portrait timeline guide.
The photograph you upload gives the artist the information needed to preserve the pet's face, expression, colouring and distinctive markings. A professional studio photo is not required. A clear phone photograph can work extremely well.
Use the original file where possible and avoid heavily filtered images that alter coat or eye colour. If you are still deciding which image to send, read our pet portrait photo guide.
Paw & Glory's current custom portrait products are hand-illustrated from customer photographs. The artist works from the submitted image and the design selected with the order.
The aim is not merely to place an anonymous dog or cat into a template. The pet's recognisable features still matter, regardless of whether the finished style is modern, formal, royal, funny or commemorative.
Our pet portrait styles UK guide explains how the main styles differ.
The artwork proof lets you review the personalised image before it moves into physical production. This is the point to check likeness, markings, positioning and any text or personalisation attached to the design.
Current Paw & Glory product information includes an artwork preview before production, with artwork edits available before approval on the current custom portrait range. Always check the exact product page for the options attached to the design you ordered.
Review the important features rather than enlarging the artwork until individual pixels begin receiving performance reviews. The proof exists to check recognition and meaningful details.
If a feature needs adjustment, make the revision request specific. “The white patch should extend further down her chest” gives the artist useful information. “Something seems wrong” leaves everyone participating in an avoidable guessing game.
When the requested detail was not visible in the original photo, add another reference image if you have one.
Useful revision requests can include:
If you are deciding whether an accessory should remain visible, see our collar, tag and harness portrait guide.
Once you are happy with the proof, approval tells the order to move forward towards production. Before approving, check likeness, personalisation and the product or size you selected.
Artwork approval and physical production are separate stages. This is one reason a custom portrait requires more planning time than a ready-made print sitting on a warehouse shelf.
The approved artwork is prepared for the physical format ordered, such as the framed or unframed portrait or canvas option shown on the relevant product page.
If you are still comparing formats, use our framed pet portrait guide and pet portrait canvas UK guide.
Once production is complete, the order moves into delivery. Current UK guidance is typically 5–8 working days after approval, but the live Shipping & Delivery page and checkout should be treated as the final source because shipping services and peak-period conditions can change.
If you realise you uploaded the wrong image or find a substantially better reference, contact support as soon as possible and include the order details. A source-photo change after artwork has started can affect timing because the artwork may need to be reworked.
Surprise portrait orders are possible when you can obtain a suitable photograph without involving the recipient. A family member may be able to provide the original file. If the only available image is a small social-media screenshot, try to obtain a higher-quality version before ordering.
For the wider gift decision, see our custom pet portrait gifts UK buyer's guide.
For memorial artwork, the newest photograph is not automatically the best one. An older image may better preserve the expression or life stage you remember. Our pet memorial portraits UK guide covers old photos, names, dates and format choices.

It can. A revision keeps the order in the artwork stage until the updated proof is reviewed and approved.
Production follows artwork approval, once the personalised artwork is ready for the physical product ordered.
Use Paw & Glory's live Shipping & Delivery page and the information presented with the current order. Those should take priority over older editorial estimates.
The process is deliberately staged so there is a checkpoint between uploading a photograph and producing the finished item. You provide the pet; the artwork proof gives you the chance to make sure the finished portrait has, inconveniently but importantly, retained the right one.
